The Guardhouse Cafe

Berry Head Nature Reserve, Brixham, TQ5 9AW
01803 855 778
Stunning views, Napoleonic forts, rare wildlife and superb coastal walks – a visit to Berry Head has something for everyone (even before trying our fabulous food)! The Berry Head fort was built at the very start of the 19th century, to protect a battery of guns on the end of the headland. There has been a tea room in the Guardhouse for over 100 years but a modern extension in 2008 created the current light and airy cafe, which can seat 40 guests, with lots of space on wooden tables and picnic blankets outside in warm weather. We serve a range of local, home-made hot and cold food, quality coffee and Teapigs tea, alcoholic and soft drinks - and of course the famous Guardhouse Cream Teas! Our specials board changes seasonally and features unusual but delicious home-made food. Our cakes and brownies are made by local ladies.

South West Cafe/Tearoom "It’s rare to see a machine as well-oiled as this one – service was flawless, the food was delicious and varied, and it’s a relaxed and happy place. You can tell a lot of hard work has gone into making it work, and as a result it they make it appear easy." - Taste of the West Judges 2023 Hospitality - Café/Tearoom 2023
