The Carter family, owners of Greendale Farm Shop, has been farming the East Devon countryside for more than five generations. A world away from the supermarkets, Greendale farm shop is bursting with fresh, locally-sourced produce. If we can’t grow it on our farm or catch it from our fishing boats, we buy from carefully chosen suppliers; it’s important that we offer only the best to our customers. With its wet fish counter, on-site butchers, fabulous Deli and well-stocked grocery department a visit to the farm shop is always worthwhile.
Our shop opened in 2000, originally just as an outlet to sell our own pork, since then it has expanded to include our popular café. The shop sells a wide selection of local wines beers and ciders, everyday products such as local organic milk, butter and cheese and other local Westcountry produce. Along with a wide selection of our pork, sausages, bacon and ham we also sell chicken and duck from Creedy Carver and beef from Dartmoor Farmers. The café has a limited number of indoor seats but plenty of outdoor tables. There is a children’s climbing frame, chickens, ducks and ponies to see and peddle tractors to play on, all situated within the enclosed environment of the old farm yard.
We are open Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30-5.00pm and on Sunday’s from 10-4.00pm.

We work closely with our local farmers enabling us to be at the forefront of a supply chain of true west country provenance and are proud to know where all our meat has been raised, slaughtered, and processed.
Veyseys butchers of Cullompton has been selling quality local meats for over 130 years. We are experienced butchers with a wealth of knowledge in our trade and a passion for food.
Our meat comes from the Rural farmlands of the west country, we pride ourselves on locally reared livestock grass fed and where possible organically farmed. We source all Beef, Pork, Lamb, and Game within a 20-mile radius of our premises in Cullompton Devon. Therefore, this makes up for 90% of our meat and game stock that is sold over our counter. Sourced this way, means we maintain the highest efficiency and expected standard. This also saves the carbon footprint. Livestock is taken by the farmer to our local slaughter house. All carcasses are butchered on site, enabling best cuts with minimum waste.
We know the farmers personally and have a great working relationship with them all. We work very closely with our suppliers to ensure both customers and ourselves are satisfied with the end result. Because we have worked with our suppliers for over 50 years they know the exact quality we expect, our likes and dislikes. All of our meats can be traced from farm gate to dinner plate.

Since 2014, Alex and Lauren Brazier have been hand-rearing their own traditional breeds of Devon Closewool and Herdwick sheep in their own fields at Harwood Farm on the outskirts of Salcombe, butchering the animals themselves.
In 2016, Alex and Lauren saw an opportunity to work with other like-minded local farmers to supply meat that has travelled the least possible distance from field to fork. Resulting in meat that’s healthier and better for the environment, and tastier too – the Salcombe Meat Company was born.
We understand that raising slow-grown, grass-fed animals, and practicing whole carcass butchery, means our customers get the very best quality produce. From our own dry-cured bacon and gammon, to our sausages and burgers made in-house, to our renowned Dexter beef, our meat is always local, sustainable and – above all – delicious.
