Tavistock Food Festival & Chunks of Devon

“CHUNK OF DEVON” WINS SUPPORT

Having recently won a controversial national pasty award, Chunk of Devon have now been successful in winning provisional financial support in the Channel 4 “angels” programme featuring Sir Gerry Robinson.

Interviewed the following Friday morning, Simon Bryon-Edmond, Managing Director, said “We were badly let down by our bank late last year when they reneged on a new business loan. Happily we are now finalising terms and conditions with Sir Gerry which will enable us to expand our business resources to support our extremely strong sales growth. And as part of our marketing programme we are really looking forward to participating in this year’s Tavistock Food Festival on Morwellham Quay later on in September. With only the river Tamar between us and Cornwall I am confident the far bank will be full of the Cornish savouring the aroma of our renowned pies and pasties”.

Jeffrey Stackhouse, Festival Chairman, said “I am delighted that we have Chunk of Devon exhibiting. They are a relatively young company in the pie and pasty business but clearly successful despite adverse trading conditions. We now have only about a dozen stands available so any local or regional food producers who would like to join us Saturday and Sunday September 12th & 13th should contact us through our website www.TavistockFoodFestival.co.uk.

We are concentrating this year on local food producers and am delighted that among this year’s exhibitors there are over seven new or start up food producers. We shall have everything from cheese to oysters, chilis to pickles, jams to cake, ice creams to fruit and veg, so it will be great “out of town” shopping experience for the whole family.

Morwellham Quay will be open to all visitors so families can have a great day out visiting the Food Festival and all the historic attractions of the ancient stannary port of Tavistock.  And when they are tired they can sit down and relax in the St Austell beer tent.

To make life easy for travel to and from Tavistock we have set up a free of charge coach service from Bedford Square to and from Morwellham Quay throughout the weekend. On Saturday coaches will leave Tavistock on the hour from 09.00, the last departure time being 16.00, returning from Morwellham on the half hour. The last return on both days being 17.00.  However, please note that the first Sunday service will be from 10.00.”
