Crackington Cider Company are producers of artisan, small batch, West Country ciders. Jon and Sam Miles started the Crackington Cider Co. from their home in Cornwall in 2011 when they planted 30 cider apple trees given to them by Jon's Dad, Eddie. The 8 acre orchard, situated on the south side of the Coombe Valley above Crackington Haven, now has over 1100 cider apple trees. Jon has focused on the conservation of Cornish and vintage quality West Country cider apples, many of which were grafted by Jon from cuttings due to their rarity. To ensure a perfect balance of sweet, bittersweet, sharp and bitter sharp apples 30 varieties are grown including Rattler, Lord of the Isles, Captain Broad, Collogett Pippin and Dabinett. We built the cider barn in early 2017 with the help of Sam's sister Caroline and brother-in-law Philip, in time for the first harvest that October. Apples are pressed, fermented and bottled on site in the Cider Barn. The ciders are slow matured in stainless steel fermentation vats for a minimum of six months to develop a full clean character. We launched our on site cider shop in June 2019. Ciders are also available from a number of local (North Cornwall) pubs, restaurants and shops.
