Taste of the West member and sponsor Stancold are pleased to have confirmed further works within a food manufacturing facility less than 50 miles away in Wiltshire. The team have worked consultatively with the main contractor and end user for over ten years to complete extensive remedial works across the site, which has included projects for fire-rated pallet areas and R&D partitioning.

As part of this project, Stancold will be undertaking the design and installation of a food-safe partition to segregate a new nut production line from its neighbouring allergen-free area. This will be accompanied by a hygienic storage room for similar ingredients that must also be stored independently to avoid cross-contamination.

Separation in this way is absolutely critical for food & drink manufacturers in ensuring that they keep consumers safe and comply with standards set out by the Food Standards Agency, with recent media attention highlighting the unfortunate consequences of such requirements not being met.

Where food safety and cleanability is required, the team will opt for Kingspan’s QuadCore panel system, designed specifically for environments like this, utilising a standard 100mm panel thickness for the works. To work in and around some of the areas of the new production line that require a more flexible solution, our team will create openings within the wall and then work with a specialist contractor to install industrial curtains over conveyors and processing equipment.

Understandably, when the nut line is operational, the nut-free production schedule is inactive to further prevent any cross-contamination, so Stancold have worked towards developing a construction schedule that accommodates the manufacturing down time and minimise disruption to productivity in the surrounding areas.
