Paramount 21 was founded in September 1988 by Ali Hannaford and the business continues to grow and thrive in today’s fast paced foodservice industry. A 30-year celebration party for employees past and present to mark the event was hosted by Ali, her family and fellow directors at the Livermead Cliff Hotel in Torquay.


Ali said: “Today, 30 years ago I set up Paramount 21 Ltd at home in my dining room. I'd been made redundant; my son was 1 year old. What started as a small business trading in seafood has now become a global frozen food business specialising in the production of value-added vegan, vegetarian and seafood for both catering and retail. I haven't done this alone, it's been with the unwavering support of my husband, our 2 sons, family, employees, customers and suppliers. It's also been with help from many people within the frozen food industry. I treasure these friendships and continue to support the industry through the British Frozen Food Federation. So today when everyone is saying Happy Birthday to me and Paramount, I'm saying thank you to all those who have been part of our journey so far.”



30 years ago, Ali Hannaford, founded Paramount 21. The company was started with only £3,500, second hand machinery, sheer determination and faith in the future. The company has quickly developed from packing prawns to creating a range of premium value added frozen seafood, vegan, vegetarian and free from products for the foodservice industry. Today, Paramount is still an independently-owned family business.The company’s wider family continues to grow with investment in its production capacity, factory capabilities and most importantly in its valued staff.


Paramount is a global company supplying products to the UK, Europe, Australasia, UAE and America.



Just two years after the company was founded, Paramount 21 won its first British Frozen Food Federation award and has gone on to win many more as the range of products has expanded - including winning a Silver Award in the Taste of the West Awards 2018 for their MSC Coated Whitebait, now headed & gutted. P21’s product development team consistently strive to create products that are on-trend, in demand and deliver an exceptional eating experience.


The award-winning range includes delicious vegan and vegetarian burgers, gluten-free fishcakes and newly-launched MSC-accredited whitebait that has been headed & gutted.
