Lyme Bay Winery in Devon have won a gold medal in the inaugural Independent English Wine Awards (IEWA). The only independent national wine competition for England was judged by a 20-strong panel from a total of 16 grape varieties. The award-winning white wine is their Bacchus Block 2015. Alex Taylor, IEWA founder, said: "English wine has never been better placed than it is right now. In terms of climate, politics, economics, consumer trends – it’s never been a better time to be an English wine producer – or consumer!"
Congratulations to the team at Lyme Bay Winery. We'll drink to that!
