WIltshire artisan chocolatier Lick the Spoon has launched its much anticipated 2019 Easter Egg Collection in all new plastic free packaging. The range features a set of six luxury Art-Deco themed eggs with truffles based on original 1920s cocktail recipes including Brandy Alexander, Mary Pickford, Pink Champagne and Negroni. 

Lick the Spoon worked with two local print and packaging companies to create the new plastic free range with Art Deco inspired graphic design from Lick the Spoon’s creative director Diana Short. 

 

The six eggs in the range are…

The Bish – incorporating Lick the Spoon’s 2016 Taste of the West Supreme Champion winning Chocolate.

Dark Deco Orange – using Lick the Spoon’s 2018 Taste of the West Champion Chocolate winning Orangey chocolate stick recipe.

Champagne High Tea – An almost unheard of 45% cocoa white chocolate egg with raspberry and quinoa.

Milk Deco – A 45% cocoa single origin Milk chocolate egg.

Dark Deco – A 75% cocoa dark chocolate egg made with Madagascan and Colombian Raisetrade chocolate.

Vegan Caramel delight egg with eight Vegan salted caramel chocolates - the egg Diana is particularly proud of: "We know from our research that the flavour most requested by Vegans is a milk chocolate salted caramel equivalent. We tasted lots of readily available Vegan chocolate but weren’t satisfied with the taste. I had already spent several months perfecting a salted caramel recipe that I knew was a knock-out and indistinguishable from the best non-Vegan salted caramels, but couldn’t find the chocolate to match. We had decided to make our own from scratch when friends at Chocolat Madagscar asked us for our opinion on  their new Cashew-milk chocolate. Not only was it the the best Vegan milk chocolate equivalent we’ve ever tasted, it’s entirely made in Madagascar under the Raisetrade initiative. Perfect!"

 

Accompanying the Luxury eggs are Lick the Spoon’s new British Bird themed Nest Box eggs. The box features a British Garden bird theme, tips on how to attract birds to your garden, and bird spotting guide as part of the packaging: "We wanted to create a plastic free box that looked beautiful, was made locally, and also had added value. We hit upon the Nest box idea and originally wanted to make it usable as an actual Nest box. We discounted that due to the UK climate and the need to avoid any plasticised coatings. So we incorporated a garden bird spotting guide as part of the packaging design. We’re so pleased with the original design created from hours of origami, that we’ve design registered it" – enthused Diana

 

There are two eggs in the Nest Box range, Milk Chocolate Salted caramel crunch made with 45% cocoa single origin milk chocolate, and White chocolate and Raspberry. Completing Lick the Spoon’s new range are Milk Chocolate mini eggs and a soft Salted Caramel filled milk chocolate egg.

Lick the Spoon were founded in 2006 by husband and wife team Diana and Matthew Short. They started their business from their home in Chippenham, Wiltshire, before building a small ‘Chocolate Factory’ in 2009 at nearby Corsham. They’ve won over 70 fine food awards including Supreme Champion at the 2016 Taste of the West awards and Champion Chocolate throughout the South-West for the last four years in a row. In 2017 Diana featured as one of the four time traveling confectioners in the BBC television series the Sweet Makers. Despite their success Lick the Spoon have remained intentionally small, placing sustainable development as the main pillar of their business.
