Somerset craft cider producer Harry’s Cider Company is launching an authentic mulled cider in a traditional glass flagon, which will be available from ‘Apple Day’ on 21 October.

Harry’s Mulled Cider is made at the family farm in Long Sutton near Langport. Sweetened with a cane sugar, the base cider is gently mulled for more than two hours with a selection of spices including ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg. With an alcohol level of 4% ABV, the new one litre glass flagon format will sit alongside the larger three litre pouch and ten and twenty litre Bag-in-Box.

Cider maker Harry Fry says, “The apples come from our own orchards and once we have our base cider blend, the spices are added and mulled to enable a gentle infusion. It’s an authentic way of making mulled cider, and we believe its outstanding aroma and taste is very much a result of this extra time and attention.

“We’ve been making our mulled cider for a few years now, initially on a small scale and mainly for sharing at events and celebrations, which is why our original packaging focused on party-sized volumes. We’ve had so much positive feedback though and many requests for a smaller sized product so that people can enjoy it in a wider range of situations, as well as making it ideal for gifting. It’s the perfect time of year to launch it too, with Halloween and Bonfire Night just around the corner. What’s more, a warming and delicious glass of mulled cider can provide the perfect antidote to these noticeably colder evenings!”

Harry’s Mulled Cider will be available for tasting and to purchase at a number of events in and around Somerset from now until Christmas. It is also available from a wide range of stockists and from Harry’s Cider Company directly, which is open to the public on Saturdays between 10am and 4pm.
