Award-winning artisan Christmas pudding producer, Figgy’s, has just launched a handmade single-serve version of their traditional Christmas pudding, specifically for the foodservice sector. The new 130g single-serve puddings are available direct from Devon-based Figgy’s (www.figgys.co.uk) with free UK delivery.
Having won multiple awards for their luxury Christmas puddings, the small West Country producer wanted to offer restaurants, pubs, cafes, hotels and other catering establishments, handmade puddings, crafted in small batches using the finest ingredients - a welcome change from the usual mass-produced options available.
Figgy’s has been making Christmas puddings from their bakery for 12 years and are delighted to now offer the single-serve puddings which are supplied to the catering industry in small basins with lids, which can be heated by steaming in advance or microwaving to order. They use nothing but the best ingredients. Ten-year-old Somerset Cider Brandy from the Somerset Distillery, as well as CAMRA-award-winning Port Stout from Devon-based Hanlons Brewery are used in generous proportions and they make their own breadcrumbs using bread from a local bakery.
Commenting on the launch, Jo Evans, owner of Figgy’s says: “When we trialled our 130g Christmas pudding last year it was a great success and we found that restaurants who named our brand on their menus sold twice as many Christmas puddings as they had with the previous generic puddings they offered.”
Robert Jackson from The Folly, Towcester took part in Figgy’s 2018 trial, naming the producer on his Christmas menu. He comments: “We had lots of extremely positive feedback from our customers. Our visitors loved the ethos of Figgy’s - a small family business carefully sourcing the best local ingredients and making the puddings by hand. We sold twice as many puddings as the previous year!”
Husband and wife team, Richard and Jo Evans make all their puddings using an old family recipe, which they have perfected over the last twenty years. They stick to tradition and steam all of the Christmas puddings which are then properly matured, allowing the rich, wonderful flavours to develop.

Jo set up Figgy’s in 2007 whilst on maternity leave. She started with just 100 Christmas puddings, using a local community kitchen to make them. The puddings proved so popular that Jo was able to give up her job to focus on the business, with her husband Richard joining her a year later. Richard and Jo are available for photography and interview, samples can also be provided for taste testing.
