The Carter family, owners of Greendale Farm Shop, has been farming the East Devon countryside for more than five generations. A world away from the supermarkets, Greendale farm shop is bursting with fresh, locally-sourced produce. If we can’t grow it on our farm or catch it from our fishing boats, we buy from carefully chosen suppliers; it’s important that we offer only the best to our customers. With its wet fish counter, on-site butchers, fabulous Deli and well-stocked grocery department a visit to the farm shop is always worthwhile.
Opened in 2005, The Udder Farm Shop was the brainchild of Jane and Brian Down when they saw a lack of opportunity for buying local produce and few places for the local community to meet. Built from the ground up to their own specifications there is now a restaurant, deli, shop and butchery. All the beef or pork for sale in the farm shop or cooked in the restaurant is raised on Jane and Brian's own farm next door, or bought in from the local village. In fact, all the meats and products are sourced from the local area where feasible whether pork, biscuits, tea or paintings!
Darts Farm is a nationally award-winning food hub, where the working farm is still at the heart of the business. You can reconnect with nature by visiting the animals, winding your way through the vegetable fields on the farm walk, or wildlife spotting in the bird hide overlooking the wetlands.
Inside is an Aladdin’s cave of artisan goodies! The food hall is stacked with various colourful homegrown veggies, deli goods and storecupboard essentials, and the butchers have a fantastic selection of locally reared meat.
If you’re feeling peckish, a visit to the Restaurant is a must. The chefs use the food hall as their larder, creating delicious seasonal meals; perhaps a gourmet steak sandwich, an artisan charcuterie platter or a traditional Devonshire cream team. If you’re in a hurry, you can always grab award-winning, fresh fish and chips from The Fish Shed.
It’s not just about the food though as there’s also a very stylish lifestyle shopping experience on offer. A compilation of carefully handpicked specialist retailers such as AGA, Fired Earth and Cotswold Outdoor as well small independent boutiques such as Orange Tree, Energy Hair and The Treatment Loft health and beauty are all under one roof. You can even charge your Tesla!
Pengelly's have a long tradition of sourcing and serving the finest Cornish fish available anywhere in the UK.
For almost half a century Pengelly's of Looe have been supplying local people and the finest Cornish restaurants with the freshest selection of fish and shellfish from the day-boat fleet of Looe and Polperro. Our fish comes from sustainable stocks, fished using traditional methods in harmony with the environment. Most of our fish is line-caught in small numbers, and our net-caught fish are captured using small, non-destructive, netting techniques. This not only means that the fish is of the highest standard, and doesn't spend hours getting crushed in cramped netting, but that the Cornish stocks are never over-depleted allowing new generations of fish and shellfish to maintain the numbers and health of south-west fisheries.
