Five of the best Food Festivals in May

Devon County Show

There’s only one place in Devon where on just three days of the year the county is revealed in all its glory! Experience the best of food, farming and entertainment all in one day at the Devon County Show (17-19 May). Top quality local food and drink has become a vital ingredient in the appeal of agricultural shows in the 21st century, and Devon, as always, leads the way!

South Gloucestershire Food & Drink Festival

The South Gloucestershire Food and Drink Festival (19 & 20 May) brings together an array of culinary tastes, providing the world of food and drink right at your doorstep. Of course it would be almost criminal to not have some great live music to bop away to whilst enjoying a beer or two... (The South Glos Food and Drink Festival encourages responsible drinking but has no regulations on dad dancing). It’s also FREE ENTRY! A whole weekend celebrating our two favourite things - food and drink! You certainly won't leave hungry from the array of deliciousness available for every preference.

Gin Festival - Bristol

The UK's first, biggest and best gin festival is making a visit to Bristol on 25 May and bringing an enormous variety of different gins with them! As well as the opportunity to try a huge variety of gins from all over the world (including exclusive gins you won't see anywhere else) there will be live music, great food and a gin cocktail bar. There will also be gin masterclasses and the opportunity to meet gin distillers in person, try free samples and chat about their gin. THIS EVENT IS STRICTLY OVER 18s ONLY (ID MAY BE REQUIRED)

River Cottage Food Fair

Join Hugh and the River Cottage team for a weekend of fun on the farm and food for thought. Go along to the annual Food Fair at River Cottage HQ (26 & 27 May) where you can learn new culinary skills, meet the animals and immerse yourself in a weekend full of cooking, growing, relaxing and (most importantly) eating.

Clovelly Seaweed Festival

Held to promote seaweed for its immense health and nutritional benefits, you'll find a variety of stalls selling a range of seaweed products, plus arts and crafts at this year's Clovelly Seaweed Festival (27 May). There'll be live music, craft activities and workshops, talks and demonstrations as well as street entertainment. Don't miss the Marine Biological Association's exhibition showcasing the ‘Amazing World of Algae’.
