Jon Thorner's began with one simple idea: to offer good food, locally sourced. Starting in 1976, Jon Thorner's was one of the region's very first farm shops and specialised in providing locally reared meat. In this time the business has grown from a single farm shop, to a franchise of butchery counters, a large range of hand made foods, supplying local produce wholesale and running a cafe. But one thing which has remained consistent throughout the years is the quality of our products and where we source them from. We have always focused on supporting local suppliers; Jon has developed an excellent reputation and is respected for his attitude towards local sourcing. White Row Farm Shop, Fishmongers and Butchers sells as much local produce as possible, including pork from our pigs, eggs from our chickens, and vegetables from our fields. We also keenly support other farmers and producers in our local area. Fresh fish is available from the Scallop Shell Fishmongers; the Scallop Shell Fish and Chip Shop offers top quality fresh fish fried to order; and the Scallop Shell Cookery School is run by chef and fishmonger Garry Rosser. The White Row Butchery is run by Jon Thorners and we offer an excellent range of all meats. The deli counter offers a wide selection of cheeses, cooked meats, pates, sweet and savoury bakery, plus pastries and delicious homemade tarts. The White Row Bakery is supplied by the wonderful Hobbs House Bakery. Our selection of products is constantly growing and we strive to find new and exciting products for our customers. We are proud to supply local produce, especially those which the West Country is famous for, such as our excellent selection of locally produced cider and ice-cream.
