Cass Titcombe and Louise Chidgey founded Brassica Restaurant & Mercantile in September 2014, having moved from London a few months before. The long term aim was always to work together marrying their complementary skills and experience in the hospitality and retail industries. London restaurants were fast becoming extremely 'concept' lead and both Cass and Louise were keen to open a restaurant which was known for just being a 'jolly good restaurant' with no trends or concepts attached.
With Cass' love of both fishing and cooking fish, it was an obvious choice to move more towards the coast. We work with local suppliers who provide the freshest and nearly always organic produce from rare breed pigs & lamb to Devon Ruby cows - 85% comes from within 15 miles of Beaminster, while the majority of dry ingredients come from Europe either via Borough Market or direct.

When we started The Curious Drinks Company we had no idea of what we would encounter when we embarked on this mystical journey. Filled with excitement, trepidation and, well, obviously curiosity, we decided to start by creating a small range of products that reflected the years of brewing knowledge we had amassed with our passion for nature, alchemy and a diligent focus on mindfulness to create the Curious Kombucha range.

I create, make and bake in my kitchen. I cook just about any thing & every thing from my kitchen in Upwey with an emphasis on local seasonal produce. You can typically find me at Dorset Farmers’ Markets, Food Festivals & other events and frequently found cooking at the Old Ship Inn, Upwey.

We hand make artisanal gelato using the finest seasonal local ingredients in our lab in Salway Ash, near Bridport, Dorset. Our milk comes from an organic farm in Somerset, and we source as many of our ingredients as we can from local producers, starting with our own rambling garden and orchard. Our founder, Annie, was trained as a gelatiere in Italy. We work with a rapidly growing number of chefs and outlets in the West Country, as well as selling from our beach kiosks in West Bay and Lyme Regis, and our trailer at Felicity's Farm Shop, Morcombelake.
