Situated less than 50 yards from the coastal path and surrounded by National Trust farmland, our fantastic new farm shop and cafe offers a wide range of our own produce along with a great variety of Cornish produce, all sourced as locally as possible. We supply everything from home reared award winning beef, lamb and pork to homemade pies and cakes, as well as charcuterie, milk, local cheese, eggs, juice, chutneys, jams and other local products. Both the farm shop and the cafe won Gold in the 2016 Taste of the West Awards and the Cafe won Best South West Cafe/Tea Room 2016.
Jon Thorner's began with one simple idea: to offer good food, locally sourced. Starting in 1976, Jon Thorner's was one of the region's very first farm shops and specialised in providing locally reared meat. In this time the business has grown from a single farm shop, to a franchise of butchery counters, a large range of hand made foods, supplying local produce wholesale and running a cafe. But one thing which has remained consistent throughout the years is the quality of our products and where we source them from. We have always focused on supporting local suppliers; Jon has developed an excellent reputation and is respected for his attitude towards local sourcing. We champion the best Somerset has to offer, all under one roof.
Opened in 2005, The Udder Farm Shop was the brainchild of Jane and Brian Down when they saw a lack of opportunity for buying local produce and few places for the local community to meet. Built from the ground up to their own specifications there is now a restaurant, deli, shop and butchery. All the beef or pork for sale in the farm shop or cooked in the restaurant is raised on Jane and Brian's own farm next door, or bought in from the local village. In fact, all the meats and products are sourced from the local area where feasible whether pork, biscuits, tea or paintings!
The inviting Arts Cafe sits indside the Royal Cornwall Museum, and runs into the art shop. Fresh, colourful salads, homemade soup, jacket potatoes, quiches, sandwiches and toasted paninis are all made to order, using local produce where possible. There's a delicious selection of homemade cakes too. Ethically aware Cornish coffee company Origin supply our fresh beans, which are roasted down the road in Helston. We serve loose leaf tea in quirky tea pots, and are fully licenced, with wine by the glass or bottle available, and local beer and cider on offer. Relax on comfy sofas and when the sun's shining, enjoy spending time in the lovely outdoor courtyard.

At the Boatyard Cafe Bar we take time and effort to source our ingredients as locally as possible - seasonality and provenance are of the utmost importance. Quality, interesting and simple food within a relaxed atmosphere, the menu is casual with plenty of sharing items such as pizza, pasta and seafood. We like the food to do the talking, which is why our presentation is simple and unfussy. Our fish and shellfish comes from Day Boats landing their catch within 20 miles around the coast. Our meat is supplied by local farms; we are committed to sustainable fishing and farming and only source our produce from suppliers that share this outlook.
As part of the art/media site, The Paintworks, we are a bustly bar/eatery with a 'New York bohemian loft feel' with our mix of dining room and chilled out sofa lounging layout in a 42ft long warehouse building. During the day we offer a deli/tapas bar and a hot specials' menu which always serves freshly made vegetarian, fish and meat dishes conjured up by our enthusiastic head chef Janey. She always endeavours to source local ingredients and takes great pride in the quality of dishes we offer. On Sundays we do fantastic roasts for our many regular customers and our much loved Bocapizzas are served every day. We are about to launch our new Pizza Locale with toppings from our local suppliers rather than from Italy. We also offer local drinks; alcoholic and soft.
At The Breakwater we offer excellent food and quality wines in a relaxed atmosphere with panoramic views across Brixham harbour. Cafe culture by day and restaurant by night with locally caught fish, well presented steaks and local meats from a straight forward traditional English menu.
Clavell's Cafe and restaurant is situated in the picturesque village of Kimmeridge on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset one mile inland from the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. Most of our food is made on the premises and prepared to order using fresh local products wherever possible. The lamb, pork and beef all come direct from our farm to our cutting room where they are prepared for our requirements. The venison comes from the Dorset Game Larder near Blandford, and some of the fish comes from our fisherman Nick Ford in Kimmeridge. The cafe is also available for private functions and we can also cater for outside functions from dinner parties to weddings, please enquire for prices and menus.
