We provide a delicious range of homemade pasties, pies and sausage rolls using the finest, locally sourced ingredients. You can also pick up our products uncooked and frozen ready for you to enjoy at your leisure, and if you’re not local our pasties by post service will deliver them straight to your door! We believe that in order to create the best tasting pasties you need to use the best ingredients. That is why we use locally sourced meat of the finest quality that is full of flavour to ensure a great taste. Our shortcrust pastry is lovingly homemade using our secret recipe (it actually came from Gran!) and tenderly filled before being frozen for freshness.
Sheppy’s Cider has been at Bradford-on-Tone since the family moved here in 1917, and the name and location have been a fixed point in the lives of local people and holiday makers ever since. Over the years we have welcomed thousands of visitors to our shop, tea room and museum.
Although we focus primarily on perfecting our cider, we know that it’s just as important to make sure that people can visit the very place that we produce the cider from. It helps connects our cider and our traditions to our customers.
We ferment our ciders using the naturally occurring wild yeast from the apples. We then mature some of them in oak vats, many of which have been in the family for almost 100 years. David Sheppy, our Master of Cider, has developed his skills over a lifetime blending dessert apples with cider varieties to give Sheppy's its distinctive, high quality taste.
In recent times we have created brand new production facilities, freeing our lovely old brick buildings for development. In April we opened the doors to Sheppy’s House of Cider- a bigger shop, café, bar, restaurant, and much more. We will also have a venue inside an old cider vat which will play host to one of our many tours.
Since opening in October 2014, Brace of Butchers has become a huge success due to its affordable quality and exceptional service. We have been recognised with local and national awards, for our excellent service to Dorchester and the surrounding area. We do what the supermarkets cannot, we have a very close relationship with local suppliers and manage our procurement direct from local farmers and producers. This ensures that our specialist butchers, Rob, Ben & Owen, are able to produce some of the best products you can find.
The secret to our success is taking extreme care when sourcing our product. As opposed to purchasing separate cuts from several sources, we at Brace of Butchers procure entire animals from local farmers. This is what we believe to be respectful and responsible purchasing.
Our butchers then both skilfully and carefully cure and age the meat in-house to improve the texture and flavour. This is how we are able to offer over 64 cuts of meat from our counter allowing you to vary your choice daily. Many of our in-house prepared products are also gluten free.
Not only does our shop offer the finest butchery, we have also teamed up with some of the best producers, importers and foodies in our area to offer local bread, vegetables, beers & ciders, gin & sparkling wine, game, smoked seafood, beautiful cheeses, fresh baked goods and a fantastic range of local and international charcuterie.
We are a family run business producing traditional farmhouse cider and farm pressed apple juice, with locally harvested Somerset apples. The cider farm is a traditional working farm where you can visit and sample all our ciders before you buy. We also have a seventy seat restaurant that serves fresh, locally produced, home cooked food daily, and also caters for vegetarian and food allergies.
We believe every life is made a little better by gelato and bringing people together over gelato is what we do: the very best in artisan gelato, made with love and laughter to lift your spirits. From our Somerset milk to the pistachios we source from Bronte in Sicily, we only accept the very best that nature can offer to put into our gelato. Our gelato chefs create everything we do from scratch; and they take their time. Lovingly churning that little bit slower to make it even creamier. It’s not just the regular ten firm favourites that you’ll find in our gelateria, our chefs dream up six new monthly seasonal flavours in our award winning sorbetto and gelato.
Quality, freshness and taste are the fundamental guidelines according to which we work. Our meat products are made with the utmost care and to the highest standards. We take pride in selecting only the very best produce for our customers, and take particular pains to choose only suppliers that meet our high standards regarding feed and welfare.
Our extensive selection of steaks, chops, sausages and joints leaves nothing to be desired, with great taste, freshness & texture. We also regularly offer specialties of our own creation, using special blends of spices and herbs for a unique taste experience, all in the highest quality only an inspired master butcher can achieve.

The flavours of fire and the company of friends are celebrated all year round. Regular events include our Pytfire Barbecue Supper, Classical Music by Candlelight and our Open Mic night which unearths and shines a warm light on some superb local talent.
During the Covid-19 closure period, we are now offering three-course suppers, fresh groceries including fruit, vegetables, eggs, meat and fish, food for the freezer and great wine. We’ve got it all! Available for next-day delivery or pick-up from the garden. Check out our online shop for more details.
