Hive Beach Cafe wins AwardHive Beach Café Wins Highly Commended In Café Society Awards. Steve Attrill, owner of The Hive at Burton Bradstock, was celebrating last week as The Café Society Awards 2010 were announced at London's glamorous Blueprint Cafe. From a national shortlist of eight, The Hive reached the final round and was awarded Highly Commended by the judges in the category INDEPENDENT CAFÉ OF THE YEAR AWARD. The overall winner was Nude Espresso of London and other finalists included Rhode Island Café, Stockport and All Saints Café, Hereford. Within the industry The Café Society promotes the development and importance of high standards in the café environment to include all aspects of the business such as food, service and of course the coffee. Steve and his chefs are constantly expanding and changing the menu. The kitchens are literally a hive of activity and experimentation in every possible way! Steve travels in Europe and is a frequent visitor to London, making a point of noting key food trends. He discovered Dibar coffee in Spain and now imports coffee beans from a family business in Barcelona. The beans come from some of the best plantations in the world. The Hive is the main importer of Dibar coffee pods in the UK which are used in Asscaso coffee machines,also sold, along with Italian hot chocolate and of course West Country soft drinks and ice creams.
