Love your Lentils at The Green Yard Cafe

The Green Yard Cafe Launches Love Your Lentils Campaign

For the whole of March The Green Yard Cafe is offering their customers free lentil recipes complete with a discount voucher for the ingredients, available from Naturalife Wholefoods on South Street, Bridport.

You can hide lentils in all sorts of things, like soups or stews.  However, Elizabeth McNeice and Beverley Capewell, owners of the award winning Green Yard Cafe in  Barrack St, have pledged to get lentils out of the store cupboard and show us all how to love them. “We’ve chosen two easy-to-make lentil dishes: - a rich, tasty soup and a delicious variation on Shepherd’s Pie,” Elizabeth explains.  “Both are wheat and gluten free and they’ll be on our lunch menu throughout the month.”
“Lentils are a nutritious superfood and not just for vegetarians,” says Elizabeth.  “They consist of protein, fibre and iron as well as B vitamins and make inexpensive, tasty meals.  As we emerge from a long, cold winter not to mention recession, loving your lentils is no bad thing this side of spring!”

The Green Yard is a family run café/tea room with a simple philosophy: - quality produce sourced locally and turned into delicious seasonal meals, healthy soups, hearty English breakfasts, divine desserts and fabulous cakes.  Virtually all the food is prepared on site, from the biscotti treats served with Fairtrade organic coffee to the vegetarian tarts.  Elizabeth welcomes customers who want to chat about recipes and is often seen with notebook in hand. The Green Yard won Best Café/Tearoom of the Year in 2008 – awarded by Taste of the West.
